Over the years, FSM has established and maintained a reputation for efficient, well-engineered and extremely robust screening technology. We have a wide range of screening equipment types, enabling the ideal solution for every application to be selected.
Coarse screen for channels of large depth and width. Application in water and waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe waste water flows through a bar screen made of steel or stainless steel, while screenings are held back. Solid matter is picked up by a special grab directly at the bottom of the channel without the need for a base step. The teeth of the grab act between the bars of the screen thus preventing jamming of the screenings. The grab moved up and down by a rope. Opening and closing of the grab is achieved by a hydraulic cylinder.
Discharge of the screening is into a container, wash compactor, screw conveyor, conveyor belt etc.
The position of the grab is controlled by a rotary selector switch. Thereby different positions on the screen field can be reached by the grab. For digger operation the rope is controlled by a slack rope weight.

Coarse and fine screen. Application for pump protection in waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe basket screen for installation in sump shafts is based on the design of a grab bar screens. The basket of the screen is raised and lowered in the shaft via an electric hoist. The basket is guided by two guide rails built into the shaft and four rollers fitted to the basket. The guides are curved above the operating Level, which allows an automatic emptying of the basket above the dumpster. Final emptying is carried out by hand with a rake. While emptying the basket at the top a coarse bar screen is closing the channel.
The drive is mounted on bracket on the crossbeam of the frame and consists of a wire rope drum with geared motor. The hoist is provided with limit switches for the motor at the top and bottom positions of the basket – the end positions can be adjusted as desired.
The screen is manually controlled via a local control station with dead man´s switch for raising and lowering the basket.

Fine screen with high screenings capture rate. Application in water and waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe waste water flows through perforated filter elements made of stainless steel, while contaminants are held back. Solid matter is picked up directly at the bottom of the channel without necessarily requiring a base step. The filter elements form a continuous filter belt which is cleaned by a brush at the upper deflection point. The cleaning process is assisted by a series of jets working in proportion to the screenings load. Tines located on every 5th screening element prevent build-up of rolling matter in front of the screen and ensure that large matter is removed. The sheet steel side plates of the filter elements slide on plastic rails on the screen frame, thus forming a seal and preventing screenings from being washed past the screen at the sides. As a result of the half-round shape of the filter elements and the arrangement of the cleaning brush at the upper deflection point, the distance between the brush and the filter element remains constant. This constant distance ensures very effective cleaning combined with low wear of the brush.
At the turning points of the chain drive, the filter elements are in contact with one another via their sealing areas. The gap between the elements thus remains constant and small at all times during the rotation cycle, including at the upper and lower deflection points.
Official, independent tests have shown that FSM screens with a hole size of 6 mm approx. filter out double the amount of screenings as a stage screens with 6 mm gap size. The screenings retention figure of an FSM screen with 6 mm holes is of the order of 85%.
The efficiency of FSM filterscreens prevents build-up of screenings and clogging up in the WWTP and thus avoids time-consuming and costly measures to deal with these disturbances.

Very fine screen with high screenings capture rate · Excellent protection for membrane systems · Application in water and waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe unscreened waste water flows from both sides through the filter elements.
The outlet is make by an opening in the frame which is located in the middle of the screen frame. The filter elements form a continuous filter belt which is cleaned by a spray bar at the upper deflection point.
The cleaning process can be assisted by a optional brush in dependence on the screenings load. The water flows through the screen elements which are covered either by a woven wire mesh made of stainless steel with up to 3 mm openings or with perforated plates from 1 up to 12 mm openings which create a barrier to the passage of suspended contaminants and removes them for disposal. With mesh maller 3 mm the horizontal space between the adjoining panels is positively ealed to prevent solids escaping hru the gap as would be the case if it was not sealed. The screenings can be discharged into containers, screening washing press, screw conveyors, etc. The screen element and screen frame are sealed at the sides to prevent solids from circumventing the filter. The filter elements can be individually and quickly exchanged for ease of maintenance.

Very fine screen with high screenings capture rate · Excellent protection for membrane systems · Application in water and waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe unscreened water enters the screen inlet which is in the middle of the screen frame and is effectively screened as it flows from the inside to the outside through both sides of the screen filter elements. The filter elements form a continuous filter belt which is cleaned by a spray bar at the upper deflection point.
The water flows through the screen elements which are covered either by a woven wire mesh made of stainless steel with up to 3 mm openings or with perforated plates made of stainless steel or UHMWPE from 1 up to 12 mm openings which create a barrier to the passage of suspended contaminants and removes them for disposal. With mesh smaller 3 mm the horizontal space between the adjoining panels is positively sealed to prevent solids escaping thru the gap as would be the case if it was not sealed. The cleaning process can be assisted by an optional brush in dependence on the screenings load, if perforated plates are used. The screenings can be discharged into containers, screening washing press, screw conveyors, etc. The screen element and screen frame are sealed at the sides to prevent solids from circumventing the filter. The filter elements can be individually and quickly exchanged for ease of maintenance. For a save removal of fishs etc. we can install optional fish bags.

Fine screen · Excellent protection for membrane systems. Application in water and waste water treatment
Functional principleThe waste water flows through a perforated basket. The installation angle is 35° or 90°. The basket is fixed and cleaned by a rotated screw with a cleaning brush. The screening is transported, washed and compacted by one screw. This design guaranteed that no screening can pass the screen by “carryover” effect.
The screw is designed in the dewatering zone with shaft to reduce the wear and prevent a blockage. Perforation for the screen basket is from 2 mm up to 10 mm. The cleaning of the basket is performed by a brush. The drive is realized by a gear motor at the top.

Fine screen. Application in water and waste water treatment.
Functional principleWaste water flows through a revolving drum, which is installed at an angle of 35°. The wastewater flows into the open end of the drum. Floating and suspended screenings are retained by the screen basket, which is available with a perforation or a wedge wire. The upper third of the drum is cleaned via a line of nozzles.
The screenings thereby separated out drop into the screw conveyor, which transports and compacts the screenings. The design ensures that the screen side to be cleaned is always in the upstream water, avoiding the “carry-over” effect.
Perforation size/Bar spacing of the screening area can be between 1 / 0,5 mm and 10 / 6 mm. Cleaning of the drum is effected by a spray nozzle bar and a brush. Drum and conveyor are driven by a geared motor. The FSM rotary drum screen could be installed directly into a channel or as an option into a tank.

Fine screen. Application in water treatment.
Functional principleWater flows through a stainless steel bar screen which retains pollutants. The pollutants are conveyed further via a special circulating rake working on the reverse flow principle. The teeth of the circulating rake engage through the bar screen in such a way that clogging of screenings is avoided.
Screenings are not discharged, but remain in the water. The drive is located above the water level and the drive chains are protected by the screen grid. The screen grid can be arranged in modular design, enabling installation to be carried out through small openings. The small gap widths of the screening surface and absence of sharp edges enable the requirements of fishery associations to be fulfilled.

Fine screen. Sewage water system.
Functional principleThe screening surface consists of a half-cylindrical, perforated screening basket. Compared with bar screens, this design results in a substantial increase in the amount of screenings retained. This is a decisive argument when discharging into receiving water.
The screening basket is mounted in the waste water channel parallel to the sill. The cylindrical screening surface results in a substantial increase in the flowed through area compared with other solutions, combined with a compact design.
Waste water flows through the screening surface from bottom to top. The flow direction enables the screen to be emptied within the waste water channel. Screenings do not need to be conveyed by pump etc. from the outflowing channel side back to the waste water channel. Cleaning of the screening surface takes place during the discharging operation so that continual operation is provided. The screening surface is cleared via an extruding screw built into the screening basket. At the end of the screening surface, the screenings are returned to the waste water stream and flow in the direction of the clarification plant. In a special version, the unit can be provided with a submersible drive.
