FSM grit treatment systems are amongst the most efficient and durable heavy duty equipment available on the world market. Our long experience enables us to combine individual units to produce complete installations which clean and load the grit completely automatically.
Grading and pre-cleaning grit separator material, sewer flushing material and street sweepings. Application in waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe drum screen can be charged via feed pipe, free flow supply or screw conveyor. Material which does not pass through the perforations remains in the screening drum in accordance with hole size. A line of nozzles assists separation of small matter from large matter and washes off e.g. adhering grit. Washed off matter flows through the perforations with the wash water and passes to a collection tank from which it can be fed to a further treatment stage.
If desired by customer, the screening drum can be provided with a series of perforations of differing sizes. This enables various fractions with different grain sizes to be obtained.

Solid-liquid separation from grit separator or pre-treated sewer flushing material and street sweepings with simultaneous reduction of volatile solids. Waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe grit/water mixture is fed in via the inlet flange of the grit wash tank. Organic matter is held in suspension and floated off while the grit is sedimented in the tank. With the addition of water, the sedimented grit is separated from the remaining organic constituents using a stirring device and up-current technique. The grit is removed from the tank, de-watered and discharged via a discharge screw.
With the addition of a bunker at the upstream side, the FSM grit wash unit can be extended to become a reception station for sewer grit. If a fractionating and washing drum is positioned between the bunker and the wash unit, the installation can be additionally used for conditioning street sweepings.

Solid-liquid separation from grit separator or pre-treated sewer flushing material and street sweepings. Application in waste water treatment.
Functional principleInflow of the grit/water mixture can be either under pressure or via gravity line. The tangential feed induces a rotary movement in the water which causes (Type SK) the heavier substances such as sand to sink to the apex of the tank, where they are removed and dewatered via the screw conveyor. The grit is thus rendered substantially free of organic matter.
The grit classifier Type TSK is feeded from the top with the grit water mixture.
The FSM grit classifier effects a continual separation of the grit from the waste water flow while reducing the organic portion of the solids and dewatering the grit.
High reliability through robust construction |
If required, the grit separator can be constructed so that conversion to a a grit washer can be carried out at a later date |

Receiving station for grit separator or pre-treated sewer flushing material and street sweepings. Application in waste water treatment.
Can be extended to provide a complete unit for grading, waste water treatment and dewatering.
If desired by customer, the drum screen can be provided with a series of screening zones, where various fractions are separated by means of perforated plates of differing perforation size.
Functional principleGrit material is delivered via suction truck or similar and tipped through the screening grid into the bunker. The screening grid is designed either as a fixed rack or a vibrating screen. The material is fed via a screw conveyor either to a pumping pit or directly to a grit wash separator. The grit wash separator separates the organic and mineral contents and discharges the washed grit in the required quality in accordance with prescription.
As an option, a screening drum can be fitted between the reception bunker and the grit wash separator. This enables the grit reception station to deal with road sweepings.
With the help of the screening drum, coarse material is separated from grit.
The grit gathers in a collection vessel together with spray water from the screening drum. The grit/water mixture is fed to a grit wash separator for further processing. Coarse material drops into a container or a screw conveyor at the end of the screening drum.
If desired by customer, the drum screen can be provided with a series of screening zones, where various fractions are separated by means of perforated plates of differing perforation size.

For controlling the flow speed in circular sand-traps with the objective of not allowing organic matter to settle. Application in waste water treatment.
Functional principleThe paddle mixer is positioned at the center of the round grit separator and is driven by a geared motor located in a dry area. The shape, size and number of paddles of the mixer is arranged to produce optimum flow in the tank which supports the waste water circulation and thus improves the separating capacity. The deposited material travels to the collecting hopper from where it is removed by suction pump or air jet lift. As an option, an aerated grease trap with an automatic skimming device can be installed.
